Our Peer Connection Groups are developed to connect teens/kids with peers and parents.  They provide the opportunity for a community connection, to strengthen self-esteem and to give participants the tools to express themselves.

Groups

Do not need to be a WSCC client.

Groups are covered by most insurances including Medicaid. Sliding scale program is available.   

Grief and Loss Group (Touchstone)

This group was established to support the special needs of grieving children and adolescents.



Empowers children and teens to:

  • Identify their feelings.
  • Recognize underlying emotions that trigger problem behavior.
  • Develop coping skills by understanding death & grief.
  • Share feelings & improve family communication.
  • Interact with peers who have also experiences a death in the family.


Program highlights:

  • Sessions facilitated by clinicians & professionals trained in the grief process.
  • A supportive, peer environment.
  • Children's activities during sessions; group discussions, crafts & games designed to explore grief.
  • Parental/guardian group sessions focusing on coping skills & supporting children through the grieving process.



Details: 8 week group • 2 hours every two weeks • downtown Boise center  •  children and adolescents.

Ages 8+

Peer Connection Group For Boys

The clinician works with the boys on social skills, regulation, understanding feelings, making friends and building trust.


For: Ages 8-12 (3rd to 6th Graders)

 
Dates: Tuesdays • January 16th - April 9th.


Time: 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Mindful Reflections and Healthy Connections

Thrive in this 8-week group for girls.


Being mindful when listening and participating; interacting with one another in a polite and respectful manner; gaining confidence in the group setting; understanding of the lessons and vocalize that understanding. 

 

Group client self-evaluation may contain some of the following elements: 

 

  • Attendance/punctuality 
  • Participation 
  • Communication 
  • Behavior changes 
  • Cognitive changes 
  • Social/interpersonal changes 
  • Self-awareness/impact on others 
  • Identification of strengths 
  • Identification of areas needing improvement

Survivors of Suicide Loss Group

A group to help process the loss of loved ones to suicide, gain support from other peers in a safe environment.

Three elements that seem to assist in processing grief following the death of a family member or friend are:

  • Gathering relevant information from a knowledgeable professional
  • Talking to others about your loss, and
  • Listening to others who have had similar experiences.


For: Jr. High/High School Students

 (ages 13-18)


Once a month group starting in February and runs til December.


2 Youth Groups Offered:

 1st Wednesday of every month - 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.  - Meridian Youth 

1st Thursday of every month - 6:30 p.m. -8:00 p.m.  - Boise Youth

 

2 Parent Groups Offered:

3rd Wednesday of every month - 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. -  Meridian Parents

3rd Thursday of every month - 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. - Boise Parents

Parents of Children with Developmental Disabilities and Special Health Needs

Group is intended for parents/guardians with kids of special needs/developmental disabilities of all ages, up to the age of 18. 

 

Group will focus on:

  • Parent mental health
  • Parent connection
  • Navigating the system
  • Self-care
  • Managing anxiety that comes with parenting.
  • Managing patience and awareness towards children



Date: Starts January 22 - March 11th . Every Mondays for 8 weeks.


Time:

10am-11am (in person)

6pm-7pm (telehealth)

Dance of Anger

A group that helps you understand and process the emotions of anger. Form connections with each other through validation and empathy. Learn new coping skills and develop an understanding of a healthy relationship.

Group will read and discuss

“The Dance of Anger: A Woman's Guide to Changing the Patterns of Intimate Relationships.”

Music Wellness Group at the Farm

Participants come together with their peers through music and find their own unique and empowered voices through improvisation and songwriting.


Music therapy supports creativity, self-expression and self empowerment.


Principal instruments are guitar and voice; however, the group may also integrate bass guitar, drums and other instruments. The group provides both music therapy and instruction to all teens and focuses on abilities and preferences to meet the individuals needs.
