Hello!

My name is Chaunalee Volkmann. I earned my Bachelors in Social Work, minor in Family Studies, as well as a Certificate of Human Right from Boise State University in 2021. I went directly back to school after graduation. I graduated with my masters degree in November of 2022, from the University of Denver. I am taking clients as a Counseling Intern as I work toward getting licensed.

I have a year of experience interning as a counselor at Life Counseling Center where I saw children ages 5-21 and adults. I have worked, and continue to work as a CBRS and CM at Life, seeing children with various struggles, backgrounds, and diagnoses. I love working with children who present with explosive emotions and behaviors, ADHD, Anxiety, and life transitions (age, family changes etc.). I am a mother, which allows me to empathize with parents in a way I wouldn't be able to otherwise. I am a human, and like everyone else I make mistakes and navigate my own mental health (alongside a professional!). I feel like this allows me to relate to the families I serve and brings a real side to therapy. No one is above mental illness! We have to work together to grow through all life hands us. My favorite therapeutic modalities are Solution Focused (focusing on what you want to see instead of the problem), Mindfulness (being present where you are), Person Centered (you know yourself best), Motivational Interviewing (again, the idea that you know what is best for you. I just ask questions that help you think deeper or differently), and Strengths Based (no matter what, you have amazing strengths!).

I would be honored to help guide you and your child through all life brings and see how each of you flourish in your own path! My children and I have a dog named Luna and two goldfish named Rainbow and Cookie. :)"
