World Mental Health Day

October 10, 2018

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.  The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.

The Day starts a conversation about mental health and wellbeing that helps reduce the stigma associated with mental health illnesses, and could lead to more people seeking support and treatment.  We are all juggling a lot—stress, disappointment, grief—and all these emotions can add up.  World Mental Health Day allows an opportunity to think about mental health issues and make changes if necessary.  You don’t need to have depression, anxiety or any other mental health disorder to make a difference today.  Educating yourself and offering support to your community can help everyone’s health.
