COLBI TWISS
What do you specialize in? Advertising or what most people now refer to as Marketing. I love everything I do from writing marketing plans to social media, graphic design to branding and all the stuff in between!
What do you love most about what you do? I love the creativity side of what I do. I am a very visual person, so I love the beauty of something so simple as a collateral layout, logo and branding. Seeing it all come together. I enjoy seeing what other people come up with and that I can learn something new everyday, whether it’s how to best market a product or service, to how do learn a new design skill. It’s always changing.
How long have you been in Marketing? Over 20 years. I have worked in advertising agencies in both Salt Lake City and Boise as well as worked on the client side of marketing. I have also had my own company for 4 years which has allowed me to stay at home with my kids. Once my kids get started school, I decided it was time to get back the workforce outside my home and was so excited when the opportunity to work at an organization like the Children’s Home Society came along.
Where are you from? Boise, but my husband said since I was born in California I can’t call myself a native, even though my family moved here when I was three.
Where did you study? I got my BA degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Advertising and Minor in English from San Diego State University.
When you are not in the office, what do you enjoy doing?Spending time with my family; my husband Dan, my 6 year old sweet boy Ethan and my 4 year old firecracker daughter Hannah. We love to go camping (some people call it glamping because we have a trailer with two tvs). We love to camp from Spring to Fall. And you have to have a tv mounted to the outside of your trailer if you want to watch college football. I also enjoy mountain bike riding and stand up paddle boarding.
