Children's Home Society of Idaho

Teens and Mental Health

50% of mental health issues are established by the age of 14. Nearly 1 in 3 adolescents and teenagers meet criteria for an anxiety. Even though so many young people
struggle with mental illness, less than 50% of them receive treatment for their condition, disorder by the age of 18.

The stats are real and they are real in our community amongst our adolescents and teenagers. The Children’s Home Society  knows these stats and understand that so many young people struggle with mental illness, because we see it in the 90+ clients we see everyday.
Our foundation is a pillar for young people to lean on and find hope and start on that path to not feeling alone and knowing they have help. Family support is a big part of the solution. Teenagers deal with a lot through out their day; from social media and
bullying to low self-esteem or pressure to get good grade or make a team.
